Psychiatric Disorders

Let Our Firm Negotiate With The Insurance Carrier On Your Behalf

If the diagnosis of a mental health disorder occurred during the course of your military service or within a year afterward, it should be considered service related. Examples of psychiatric disorders that may qualify you for veterans’ benefits if you require medical care or are disabled short term or long term include the  following:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder

Your psychiatric disorder may or may not have been triggered by specific events or conditions occurring during your military service. Assuming that the disorder started while you were in the service, it may be considered service connected. Your diagnosis of bipolar disorder or psychosis may come about during military service or for up to a year after you are discharged, and it can be considered service related.
